Shiatsu is a form of bodywork which draws extensively on key aspects of Traditional Chinese Medicine akin to acupuncture.
Shiatsu techniques involve gentle stretching, holding and leaning body weight into various parts of the body to improve energy flow, blood and lymph circulation, flexibility and posture.
Pressure and contact is applied through the practitioners’ hands, thumbs, fingers, forearms, knees and feet. Treatment is focused along specific channels of energy, or Ki, which is another name for the life force that supports and sustains every activity of the body, mind and spirit.
This is why Shiatsu can affect all levels of our being – the physical, emotional, and psychological. Each treatment is unique, responding to the needs of the individual and supporting their personal journey towards better health.
